Charlottesville
A World-Class Small Town with Buzz
Historic, chic and picturesque — that’s Charlottesville! There’s an energy to Charlottesville that captures the hearts of all who experience it. C’ville, as the locals call it, is at its heart a big small town, with the buzz of a vibrant downtown combined with a soulful sense of Southern graciousness and community connection—qualities that infuse any gathering in this historic city.
The community nestles up against the Blue Ridge Mountains and some of the prettiest countryside in Virginia; it was one of the first cities to embrace the farm-to-table movement, a nod to the abundant wineries and rolling farm country that surround it.
Founded in 1762, the downtown brims with Colonial architecture, the heart of which is the historic downtown pedestrian mall with its red-brick streets. Charlottesville is home to both the University of Virginia and Monticello, the legacies of native son Thomas Jefferson, and its spirit calls to mind the promise of the birthplace of the Union—a perfect place to celebrate yours.
Whether you dream of a big southern soiree set in one of the many stunning vineyards or a chic affair at a downtown social club, there is truly an option to fit every couple’s taste.
Charlottesville is a natural beauty with 30 miles of scenic nature trails and six miles of paved trails within city limits. The land is lush and the weather is welcoming. Hiking, disc golf, mountain biking, horseback riding, canoeing and rafting are all on tap. Nearby Shenandoah National Park is an American gem offering 500 miles of beautiful trails and 200,000 protected acres.

Fertile soil and pleasant weather also mean bountiful access to great organic food. Charlottesville was one of the first cities to embrace the farm-to-table movement. Teams of talented chefs work directly with local farms to source the freshest produce, meats and cheese. More than 40 wineries, independent breweries, distilleries and cideries round out the scene.

American heritage runs deep in Charlottesville. Impeccably preserved historical landmarks dot the region, including Thomas Jefferson's home at Monticello, the University of Virginia and Montpelier, home of James Madison, the fourth U.S. president and father of the Constitution.
