La Vie en Rose Photo
A Deep Love for Storytelling
Through gentle encouragement and a commitment to being the kindest person in the room, La Vie En Rose creates beautiful Charlottesville wedding photos and an atmosphere that is relaxed and celebratory. The dream team of four professional female photographers promises you will never have to choose between stunningly beautiful photos and having an amazing time on your wedding day.
Chief Creative Director and Founder Hannah Bjorndal launched La Vie En Rose in 2015, combining her backgrounds in filmmaking and fashion photography. A Pittsburgh native and Grove City College communications and psychology major, Hannah has always loved storytelling and documentary filmmaking. After interning with a fashion photographer, she fell for editorial work and launched her own D.C.-based business in 2015.
“Charlottesville is a great destination and local wedding market for couples who want something more relaxing,” she says. “I love the vibe, it’s sophisticated but not too stuffy or fussy.”
Hannah is dedicated to finding new ways to delight clients and is always experimenting with fresh ideas and training team members to be completely aligned in style, form and approach. Four women photographers comprise La Vie En Rose, working as a collective community of artists, pooling resources and skill sets, supporting couples as a team.
Calculated imagery honors each unique detail, ensuring you look like your best and most beautiful self. Photographers document the joy, the laughter, the little moments and the party. The results are a reflection of you and your love. The team pays close attention to the emotions, dynamics and details large and small and meticulously plans for special requests while creating a detailed wedding day photo timeline.
“We celebrate from start to finish,” Hannah says. “A big part of what we really love is creating and being artists, but being a part of someone’s day, celebrating their relationship throughout the process and telling their story and then allowing them to continue celebrating their relationship and marriage years down the road through their photos is what it’s all about.”
The La Vie En Rose style is the perfect mix of sophisticated and fun, imitating the look of classic film photography by using natural light in the most beautiful way. They never miss a shot and capture your day with stealthy subtlety, never interrupting a moment while constantly observing.
“We really want to focus on the experience of the couple so they can relax and enjoy the day,” Hannah says. “We’re not just there to take pictures; we’re there to enhance that celebration.”

Real Talk with
Wedding Photographer Hannah Bjorndal
The best weddings are…
a mixture of thinking about hospitality and guest experience — and when the couple has killer personal style.
My biggest piece of advice is…
prioritize the things that matter most to you.
The shot I love to get is…
the moment where the couple is alone before any of their wedding party has processed down the aisle. There are 60 seconds of time where they look at each other with pure joy and realize they’re actually married.
I always have…
a kit that allows us to add extra emphasis to the details of the day. Ring boxes. And a pretty surface to lay out the invitation suite to make the photos really pop.
My favorite special wedding moment…
I recently photographed a friend’s wedding, who also happens to be a wedding planner. It was supposed to be an engagement party, but it became the surprise wedding day. That day was so special on so many levels.
The perfect shots are the ones that are truly candid.
