Product Designer

Role Summary

‍We are looking for a Product Designer with proven experience designing transactional marketplace products to lead design for Novela’s wedding marketplace app. In this role, you will own end-to-end design for key marketplace experiences, including:

• Couples discovering and shortlisting venues and vendors
• Wedding professionals showcasing their services, pricing, and availability
• Inquiry, booking, and confirmation flows
• Communication and follow-up touch points around wedding planning

You will work closely with Product, Engineering, and Business/Operations to design user-centric flows that:

• Drive qualified inquiries and confirmed bookings
• Improve user engagement, satisfaction, and trust
• Simplify navigation and decision-making for couples and wedding professionals

This is a high-impact role where your work directly shapes how couples experience Novela during one of the most meaningful journeys of their lives.

‍Key Responsibilities

‍1. Own End-to-End Design of Core Wedding Marketplace Flows

• Lead the full design process for Novela features:
  • Problem definition and UX research
  • User flows and information architecture
  • Wire-framing and interaction design
  • High-fidelity UI and developer-ready specs
• Design seamless, mobile-first experiences for:
  • Couples searching for venues and vendors
  • Comparing options (photos, packages, pricing, reviews)
  • Sending inquiries and booking services
  • Managing wedding planning touch points in the app

2. Design for Transactions, Trust, and Retention

• Map and optimize core funnels, such as:
  • Onboarding for engaged couples and wedding professionals
  • Explore → shortlist → inquire → book → review
• Design trust-building components tailored to the wedding context:
  • Rich profiles with portfolios, reviews, and social proof
  • Clear pricing, packages, and policies
  • Transparent communication and support flows
• Use data and feedback to iterate on designs that increase:
  • Inquiry-to-booking conversion
  • Couple engagement and return visits
  • Vendor satisfaction and retention

3. Drive User-Centric and Data-Informed Design Decisions

• Plan and conduct (or support) UX research with:
  • Engaged couples planning weddings
  • Wedding professionals (venues, planners, photographers, etc.)
• Translate research and analytics into clear insights, user journeys, and product opportunities.
• Collaborate with Product to define hypotheses and support A/B tests and experiments focused on key marketplace metrics (e.g., inquiries, bookings, engagement).

4. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations

• Partner with the Product Manager to shape roadmaps, define requirements, and set success metrics for features.
• Work with Engineers to ensure designs are technically feasible, performant, and implemented with high fidelity.
• Partner with Operations and Customer Support to handle real-world workflows and edge cases:
  • Availability and scheduling
  • Changes, cancellations, and disputes
  • Vendor onboarding and quality control

5. Shape Novela’s Design System and Design Culture

• Contribute to and evolve Novela’s design system and UI patterns for the wedding marketplace.
• Maintain a consistent, modern, and accessible visual language across the app.
• Champion design thinking and best practices across the organization, especially around wedding-specific user journeys and emotional context.

Required Skills & Qualifications (Must-Haves)

• 3-5+ years of experience as a Product Designer, UX/UI Designer, or similar role.
• Proven experience designing transactional marketplace experiences, with portfolio examples showing:
  • Complex user flows from discovery to transaction
  • Designs that drove measurable improvements in conversion and engagement
• Strong end-to-end product design skills:
  • UX research fundamentals (interviews, usability tests, synthesis)
  • User flows and information architecture
  • Wire framing, interaction design, and prototyping
  • High-fidelity UI and documentation for handoff
• Experience designing mobile-first experiences (iOS/Android) and responsive web.
• Comfort working with product analytics, understanding funnels (e.g., explore → view → inquire → book), and using data to refine designs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills:
  • Able to present concepts, options, and trade-offs clearly
  • Comfortable receiving and integrating feedback from Product, Engineering, and Operations
• A strong product and business mindset—you care about impact, user value, and how design drives growth for Novela.

Preferred / Bonus Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

• Experience working on wedding, events, or service marketplaces is a strong plus
• Prior work on:
  • High-intent decision journeys (e.g., travel, events, real estate, or big-ticket services)
  • Rich content experiences (portfolios, galleries, reviews)
  • Onboarding and tools for service providers (e.g., managing listings, availability, packages)
• Experience in:
  • Designing for emotionally meaningful contexts (e.g., weddings, life events)
  • Emerging markets or diverse user segments with varying budgets and expectations
• Contributions to a mature design system and collaboration with multiple product teams
• Basic understanding of front-end implementation (e.g., HTML/CSS/React) to better align designs with engineering constraints
