Liz and Steve’s wedding at The Blackburn Inn beamed in gorgeous early June brilliance. The grand brick boutique hotel and conference center stood majestically among deep green centuries-old trees, opulent fountains and a charming 1877 gazebo. Charlottesville wedding planners from The Faded Poppy along with rentals by MS Events set a clean late-spring reception canvas in the Great Hall with floating white candles, vintage blue floral print china, and deep indigo and crisp white linens.

Single calla lilies hung in slender glass tubes swaying in the breeze from the linen-draped arch at the end of the brick ceremony aisle. A solo violinist ushered guests to the manicured lawn decorated in white chiavari chairs and a box for advice cards. The bride sipped a single flute of champagne in her chic strapless gown, carrying a simple white calla lily bouquet, before descending through the hotel’s white double doors, arm in arm with her father, down the stately brick stairs between towering white columns. Bridesmaids wore flowing garden-inspired summer gowns and guests tossed red flower petals as the couple exited their ceremony.

Sweet embraces were framed by glowing green willow trees and sunset rooftop deck images beamed out over scenic downtown Staunton. The onsite culinary team served a fresh locally sourced menu of market greens, brie and strawberries; braised short ribs and oven-roasted salmon with herb potatoes and Brussel sprouts and a dessert offering of raspberry coulis cheesecake, wedding cake and specialty cupcakes.
