Potter’s Cidery
Dreamy Forested Flow
Potter's Cidery stretches out across expansive lush terraced lawns, an architecturally stunning former chapel, and a gorgeous mezzanine and stone event hall. Couples customize indoor and outdoor spaces to fit their dream wedding visions and invite guests to soak up the tranquil serenity just 10 minutes from downtown Charlottesville.
Used as an Episcopalian house of worship from 1924 until the early 1940s, the iconic chapel welcomes ceremonies under its exposed rafters, vaulted ceiling and working bell tower. The bright, welcoming space includes custom farm tables made from reclaimed hardwood saved from the original structure and bentwood bistro chairs in natural wood tones. The soapstone bar along the east wall separates into mobile sections that can be repositioned as needed.
The soaring South Hall features original stone walls from floor to 40-foot ceiling, two fireplaces and generous skylights and windows. A red oak timber-framed mezzanine extends over half of the South Hall, creating an intimate welcome party or cocktail hour nook. A charming Juliet balcony overlooks the chapel.
A wraparound patio extends around three sides of the European farmhouse-style cidery, creating easy movement from indoors to out. Classic pea gravel terraces and a sunken bocce and lawn game court create laid-back al fresco lounge or reception space and the upper terrace and boxwood garden graced by an antique stone fountain offer a soothing pastoral scene.
A grass ramp and promenade lead to the flat, grassy lower terrace where large reception tents and open-air ceremonies come to life. The space offers drive-up catering tent access, grounded power outlets and space for a restroom trailer.
