Lowcountry Chic in Blue and Ivory at William Aiken House

Kati and Greg’s late August wedding combined modern romantic touches with sweet Southern grace at the historic William Aiken House. The iconic Charleston venue swept guests off their feet with its lush gardens, old world piazzas and sunlit courtyards settled into the heart of downtown’s Upper King Street.

Franzi Annika Photography’s talented husband-wife team caught the day’s most breathtaking moments in their classic moody, texturized style. Expertly trained lenses immortalized the smallest details — from the bride’s pearl earrings to the striking estate’s crystal chandeliers and distinct architectural detail. Images mingled light and shadow with black and white and vintage filters, artfully tailoring couple shots throughout the mansion’s parlors, studies and piazzas and smartly juxtaposing the bride’s chic white backless gown and the groom’s ivory tuxedo coat against the home’s pastel yellow exterior.

Charleston wedding planners with Carolina Occasions designed the sunny summer day around a flourishing private courtyard ceremony graced with the shade of the property’s two-century-old magnolia tree. Guests waved woven sweetgrass fans and shared tears and laughs as the couple said their I-do’s set against the home’s dramatic Greek Revival backdrop. Cocktail hour drew guests to the historic 1807 home’s formal parlor surrounded by remarkable antique furniture and artwork to enjoy refreshing cocktails and butlered hors d’oeuvres by the revered Patrick Properties culinary team.

Floral designers with Coastal Creations styled gorgeous bountiful bouquets in soft blue blooms and eye-catching white anemones with black eye centers, lining the courtyard aisle in robust romantic arrangements and building towering blue and ivory installations poised on long reception tables in the festive piazza. Décor by Snyder Events and Nüage Linens set a timeless Southern tone with vintage blue and white linens, oyster shell salt and pepper servers, sterling flatware and rich rattan place settings. Gourmet cupcakes, glow sticks, dance floor flip-flops and high-energy music by the band Punch kept the party in full swing.
