Claire and Brian’s romantic September wedding at James Monroe’s Highland in Charlottesville, Virginia, was the perfect celebration of love, set against the beauty of the Blue Ridge foothills. The couple exchanged heartfelt vows earlier in the day at The Haven at First and Market, surrounded by their closest loved ones. Their vision came to life in a soft palette of ivory, peach, and greenery, perfectly complementing the natural beauty of the historic estate.

After the ceremony, guests were welcomed to Highland with custom signs leading the way to dinner and dancing. The space was thoughtfully designed by Hannah Rose Event Design, with long tables dressed in navy accents, flickering candles, and lush floral centerpieces. Exchange Events & Catering created a delicious seasonal menu, while Carpe Donut added a playful, nostalgic touch with warm, sweet treats for late-night indulgence.

As the day unfolded, Sarah Cramer Shields and Jeffery C. Gleason immortalized the couple’s joy, focusing on the quiet, intimate moments shared between Claire and Brian, as well as the larger celebration—from candid smiles to the high-energy dance floor. Their photographs beautifully told the story of the day, from golden hour portraits to the lively dance party that followed.

A two-tier cake adorned with delicate icing swirls, a blush rose, and a Precious Moments topper added a personal and sweet touch to the evening. As the string lights above the dance floor sparkled, The DC Transit Band kept the energy high, filling the night with music and laughter. The evening ended with a glowing send-off as the couple made their way through a tunnel of sparklers, marking the perfect close to a magical day.
