An Intimate Winery Evening at District Winery

Cassandra and Dimitri celebrated their July wedding in Washington, DC, beginning with a ceremony at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral and continuing into a waterfront reception at District Winery. Blending rich tradition with a modern city setting, the day unfolded with warmth, elegance, and a strong sense of heritage.

At District Winery, portraits along the boardwalk and within the production space, among steel tanks and oak barrels, created a striking contrast of romance and industrial character. Amanda Kahnell Photography presents the day with a clean, refined perspective, highlighting both the architecture and the intimacy of each moment.

The reception took place in the winery’s private dining room, where dark wood interiors and soft lighting created an intimate, candlelit atmosphere. Long tables were styled with linen runners, greenery garlands, and delicate white blooms by Wild Event Florals, accented by pillar and votive candles that brought a warm glow to the space. A floral installation of white and blush roses added a layered focal point, tying together the evening’s design.

Guests gathered around a generous dessert display, including a traditional cookie table, before the celebration carried onto a lively dance floor with music by Dan Goldman Events. The night closed with a sparkling send off outside the winery, marking the end of a wedding that balanced tradition, texture, and the distinct character of Washington, DC.
